Is it a bird or an Owl?

THis is my little girl.   I know talking about Halloween is kinda weird right now but I want to tell you what I did.  I was way to lazy/busy to do it around the time of Halloween.  SO I am being super prepared for the next Halloween.

HA!

So I made her costume from a Idea I got from a pattern from COuntry Living.

 This is the crowd we had.  

 A Owl, Bumblebee and Super Man. 

         What a Mix.

I love Super Man's face...he is super tough. 

                                          Oh they are a fun bunch!

How I came up with the hat....

I just Googled a bunch of pictures.
 And came up with a plan. 
 It was super easy.

I used felt for the eyes and beak. 
I used hot glue and then sewed a criss cross stitch around all the parts.

I found for the pattern of the leaves.

If you want a EASY unique costume.  I suggest you try it.  I used an old shirt that was a little long for under the feathers.  Then i just used a sock hat.  I think I had all the materials on hand.  Just the project I love most!

Spring Cleaning on the brain?

Well If you have been feeling the need to clean. 

 Maybe these will InSpiRe??

what you need:
1 pair of industrial gloves (dollar store)
some fabric
sewing thread etc...  
machine

I made up the pattern as I went. I think I measured the width of the gloves and just doubled it so I could have a ruffle. I also measured the height and folded it in half anywhere around 5 inches. Then I ironed.

I found a Tututorial here.  She did a cute pair.  Mine are a little different.

 I pinned it on in no exact way. (tried my best to get it even.)  I couldn't get the fabric to gather with a stitch because the fabric was too heavy.  Then I sewed it onto the gloves.

I gave these away at my Bunco last month. 

With some of my favorite cleaning supplies. 

Hope Emily liked them!

Now if I can find the time to make some for myself?

It only took me an hour or so...

I have been feeling a sense of urgency to organize my things, my kids things, my craft things, my paint things. etc.  But with organizing I know it will end up with me cleaning out things too.  Who wouldn't love to look girly and feminine while cleaning the toilet bowl?

Flower Pillow & A Giveaway!!!!!!!!

What I did.....

If you wanna know more about how I re-upholstered the chair go here!

I cut strips (3 or 4) of 1 1/2" wide out of a Old wool sweater

I then cut a circle out of scrap fabric (stiff fabric is best to keep the shape)

I used fabric glue and hot glue and just wrapped the strips around and around. to make the flower.

On the back I added a ruffle of burlap with hot glue like I did with my table center piece.

Then I added brooch pins to make it re-movable with hot glue and scrap fabric

for easy washing!

Carseat Cover and a Peak into my life

I am sure most of you have seen these.

 I made this one a little over a year ago.

I remember beacause I finished it the night before I was Induced to have my baby girl. 
I am a little bit of a procrastinator some days.

YOu must know I have two sons ages 5 and 3.
My little girl was a complete surprise!

I was not expecting to be pregnant.  I had just given her brother his one year old birthday party when i found out the news.

You see...My sister has a family of 5 boys and so it is a miracle....well to me,
that I got a sweet baby girl.  So lets just say  I  WANTEd  PiNK!

Materials you need:

1 yard of non-directional fabric for the top layer
1 yard for the bottom Non- directional
4 yards pom-poms
sewing machine
matching thread
5 feet ribbon
scissors
seam ripper in case of accidents

The reason i say non-directional is because I used the width of the fabric, 45 inches which is the average width.   So make sure you buy enough yardage if you buy a fabric with a that you dont want sideways. Put the fronts facing eachother and sew together.  leaving a space 5 inches or so to turn right side out.  Then Iron it out. pulling out all the corners which i usually cut the triangle out of the corners. sew the seam shut.  Then i added the pom-poms.
Next i layed it on the carseat. to determine the area to put the ribbon to hold the cover off the babies face.  I would move it slightly off the center point.  Then i would sew the ribbon on and your done!

AVERY, One year old.  I made her little hat.

Just a few days old.  I had to share her with you!

9 month AVeRy

My mother crocheted the blanket on the rocker.

thought i would share with you my little girls room. 

I had all un-matched furniture. 

SO i painted it all to match the bedding.

  I re-upholstered the chair and ottoman. 

I also found different letters for her name, sprayed them the colors of her name and so on.

I will do a larger post in the future about her room.

Changing things up a bit

A little bit Americana feeling right? I got these from my sister.

  She was sick of these and i loved them. 

Also i was house poor.

I needed some Decor so she passed them to me and i passed her some free jewelry.

LoL !!

this is a photo of My kitchen a year ago.  Since then i have made a few changes.

  I painted the bottom of my table off white this summer.

I know i need a photo of that and with my new chairs.

Where i got the idea???
So if you have ever watched "What nOt to wear" 

you have heard its not you that has to change for Clothes. 

It's the Clothes that need to Change for you!
She says this because they believe in having your clothes altered by a seamstress.

 To fit your body appropriately so that it flatters your figure.

Well that's what I have come to the conclusion with Home Decor. 

It didnt work for me in the colors they were. 

SO I got out my small paint brushes and went to work.

Its true that if you have the RIght Tool any Job is Do-Able.
If you can't tell i love the show W.N. T. W.

I have these antique Salt & Pepper shakers (bottom of photo) that gave me the

inspiration for the turquoise.  Love these too.

I also put some turquoise in the Fleur de lis.

Or as some say "boy scout symbol". 

I will say when these became Popular.....well i didn't like them. 

Then i looked up what it meant.  It means something about royalty.  blah blah blah. 

Well after that definition I started warming up to it.  PS i love the way this turned out>

And here is the old Valence....still cute but too muted for the new kitchen.

I added some trim to the bottom the same way i did the ones for my CHAIRS Here.

I found this at JoAnns fabric while shopping with a friend.

I also painted my Home sweet Home sign white.

This photo is a showing the tool that saved my life. 

I do Not know what its called but it holds the measurement so you don't have to keep

finding that 1/4" spot or whatever you are measuring.

I just made up my own pattern.  Measure your window and then add enough if

 you want it to have a little bit of a fold or wrinkle in the valence. 

Add 1/4 inch for inseams on each side.

This is the same print from my chairs. 

I had to incorporate them and bring them together.

I sewed these down onto the top of the Valence for the curtain rod bar to fit into it.

I also put a cording trim on the bottom.

These TINS are from hobby lobby.   The tins have been around for awhile and I have

loved them forever but nothing ever stood out to me other than a magnet tin sign. 
But i was wanting something New and Cheap.

I was done with Rustic/Western and wanted Vibrant new pillows and Color!  SO I took down my sign over the window

( I apologize to my husband)

 and tried to think of something new and fun to put up without running around town

looking for the perfect shades of my room

THis is what they looked like at the store.

My painting mess.

I did stain the green and turquoise ones to deepen the colors.

In this photo you can see my rug....The inspiration for it all. 

I look at this rug ( i picked this rug up at Ross for 29$ in the summer) and it makes

me happy :)

On the opposite wall of the couch you see...

I painted the shelf and changed the Quilt. 

Did i ever tell you aspire to be a great Quilter.

 (just one of my many bucket list goals)

I also painted my primitive HOME blocks.  Because i love these!

New paint and a new fun colored quilt. 

My M. in L. made this for my baby girl and i found it hiding in her closet. 

 I think she must have reAlly made it for me not Avery.  :)

New pillows....i will get to these a little later but i like what i have so far. 

I did buy the one on the end at walmart. 

I saw it one day.

 I  locked it in the Vault!

thats code for the area in my brain under Inspiration LOVE,

love, loVe it! 

Then i found a purpose to buy that pillow, took me a few days.

So glad i did!

The Elk and star are no longer on the wall anymore...the window is up with the wreath.

Maybe if i get BRAVE and clean up the WHole room i will take a photo of the profile. 

 You see my husband promised to build me a entertainment center with book

 shelves...but well that is another day and post. So under the window is Not Quite what

i want but its a working progress.I hope soon! I will show you my sketches and ideas. 

Did i ever tell you I love Ikea?  Well my husband doesn't.  He wants a entertainment

center out of Real wood and well you know....I agree. 

But its hard to be patient.

Am I right? help a sister out...

 My window that my dear friend gave me for my Birthday.  Thanks Sabrina!! love it.

I just recently got the wreath from Tai Pan.  Hung it with ribbon.

Also you can see my sweet baby girl in the corner of the photo.
