I got a Craving...

It all started with a Cake Plate I made. I bought the clear top plate at a local thrift store for $1.oo.  Then I bought the clear candle stick from Savers for $.80.  I glued them together with some trusty E600 and put a heavy topper on it to sit overnight.

Then I found this recipe here!

Gotta tell you I am NO Betty Crocker but after I made Pretzels that look this good...well I have to say I felt pretty good:)

I put butter and salt on some.
I also did cinnamon and sugar too!

soo good!

this is really heavy wire in the bag

1 Tbsp Yeast
1/8 Cup Warm Water
1 1/3 Cups Warm Water
1/3 Cup Brown Sugar
3 3/4 Cups Flour (I used 2 C. Whole Wheat and 1 3/4 C. White)
1 Tsp. Salt

Dissolve yeast in 1/8 cup warm water. Add remaining ingredients and beat until smooth. Kneed until smooth. Sometimes I just throw the stuff in the bread maker on the dough cycle… a lot less arm work. Optional: Let dough rise in an ungreased bowl, uncovered, for 1 hour. Divide into 12 pieces and shape into pretzels.

Bring to a boil:

1 Quart Water
3 Tbsp. Baking Soda
3 Tsp. Sugar

Drop pretzel into boiling mixture. About 15 to 20 seconds on each side, Place on cookie sheet. Sprinkle with course sea salt. Bake at 400° for 10 to 15 minutes, until golden brown. Watch the bottoms… they over-cook first.

I think the next time I make these I will try a tad less Brown Sugar...
Because I am a Rebel like that! HA
LOL!

NO really I like to see if I can make a Recipe Taste as good with less calories...

Am I the ONly ONE?

I did try whole wheat flour in Sugar Cookies.

 NOt so pretty.

White looks much nicer and not so nutty flavored:)

lesson learned.

If you wanna see Pictures and more Info the lady is so cute who made these Delicious Soft Pretzels go here.

  4. Heidi, your pretzels look wonderful. The nuttiness of the whole wheat flour is the perfect compliment to the sugar and cinnamon topping. Yum!
