This is a lamp I bought in past few weeks. I have been trying my hardest to scrape and/ or remove those pretty roses.
I looove the glass.
I have big plans for it. but I have not found a product to remove it.
ANY suggestions?
I have tried....Lacquer thinner, putty knife, furniture stripper, goo gone. I am beginning to think its permanent.
If the roses are etched into the glass is there a way to remove it?
This is a Clock I picked up at a local thrift store....
Did I ever tell you I love Clocks?
Well I do...most of mine dont work but this one does and I totallly scored on this one. I will show you pictures of the finished product soon!
You could have the lamp sandblasted, but that seems like over-kill. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat about taking glass etching cream and covering the whole lamp with it? Then the whole thing will be etched/frosted...?
Good luck!
GIRL...Im not sure but im thinking use some etching cream...Etch the WHOLE surface...then you could go back and apply a Paint with a stencil...maybe???
ReplyDeleteLet me know! Im dying to see what you end up doing!

Can't wait to see the finished product! Thanks for stopping by my blog today!
ReplyDeleteI bought two ceramic lamps that had white strips on them so I got some sandpaper the little foam block kind and it came right off, but I don't think mine was etched. I Love the shape of the glass. Its beautiful
ReplyDeleteCall me crazy but I like the old lady roses. Maybe it's because I'm getting old ;) Here's what I would do......Leave the flowers and paint the hardware white (with a little scraping for a shabby look) Then go way girly on the shade. Like a white shade with white fabric roses and small ruffles or something like that.
ReplyDeleteHope to see ya soon.

I love vintage lamps. Your is lovely. Do you have a heat gun? Perhaps heating the paint to kind of melt it would work? I'm visiting from A La Carte and I'm your newest follower. I hope you stop by Cottage and Creek and follow back. Can't wait to see what you do with the lamp!
